a) Guidance and Counselling
Functions
• Provides counselling services to migrant and
ex-migrant workers.
• Provides vocational and career guidance and
counselling to job seekers and school leavers.
• Contributes to the development of flexible
curricula that meet vocational training needs in
the labour market.
b) Employment promotion
Functions
• Formulates and monitors the implementation of
employment policies.
• Formulates, reviews and implements appropriate
policies relating to the absorption of the
retrenched and other returning migrant workers.
• Promotes self help programmes through
entrepreneurship development.
• Facilitation of access to technical and
financial support.
• Reviews and provides advice on updating
legislation relating to the localisation
programmes as well as facilitate issuance of
work permits.
c) Labour market analysis
Functions
• Conducts surveys and social studies on the
labour market, manages a labour market database
and disseminates labour market information to
stakeholders.
• Conducts regular training needs assessments to
determine skill needs on the labour market.
